The newly opened Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum is hosting tours and demonstrations today to celebrate Nevada Day.
The Cultural Center opened earlier this year and encourages visitors to learn about the history of the Washiw people, as well as the Stewart Indian School.
Three Great Basin Native artists will be demonstrating and sell their art for the public in the museum’s Wa-Pai-Shone Gallery. Linda Eben Jones, Paiute and Yavapai, and Stewart Class of 1965, will be demonstrating how she makes beaded bags.
Tours and demonstrations will continue through 5 p.m. today.
